Karl James

Hattie’s father, a respected American diplomat, accused of espionage and aiding Nazi Germany. He is faced with a choice no father should have to make.

David Townsend

Hattie’s piano player and fake boyfriend to cover the fact they are both gay. He is protective of Hattie and insists on coming to Rio with her to locate her father.

Heinz Baumann

A coffee plantation owner who is also the sadistic leader of the SS intelligence operation in Rio. He’s desperate to correct his one mistake: letting Karl James slip through his fingers.
